What Readers and Reviewers Say
I've been busy devouring your marvelous book. The story and writing are amazing! Two problems with it though. 1) I find it hard to be loving and kind if interrupted while I'm reading it. 2) When I start reading fast for content, I have to re-read the same lines or page/pages because I realize I'm not savoring the language. You are some writer! I rate you with my favorites! I'm not loaning my copy out but will buy it for special others.

I gave a copy to my 91-year-old mother and she stayed up all night reading it. Best book she’s read in ages.

I started to read a few pages and I was hooked immediately! I continued the next day and stayed up until 3:15 am, then finished it today. You brought me to tears a number of times. I loved it, and feel so thrilled to have been given the opportunity to journey with you.

Twelve Stones is SPELLBINDING. IT IS AWESOME IN ITS NARRARIVE, POETIC EXPRESSION, AND HUMANITY. Honestly, I don't know how to express the emotional impact it evokes... How greatly it has the unimaginable possibilities to bring many to their knees... I just don't want to put it down!!

WOW! Your book is fabulous... I have done nothing but read for the last 2 days and am so thoroughly enjoying your book, I don't want it to end. Your words flow. I can to some extent even feel what you are feeling. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with all of us. My husband is waiting for me to finish so he can begin the wonderful journey.

I sat down to read your book today and literally could not put it down. Wow! Awesome writing is all I have to say. I was ignoring my housework so when I got to the end of Chapter 3 I forced myself to put it down. My mother-in-law also ordered your book and said she is having a hard time putting it down, too. What an amazing story...
I just finished your wonderful book last night... was up till almost 2AM because I was on the last chapter and wanted to finish it. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the book. What a marvelous testimony to the world of God's love and grace. And what a wonderful talent you have in expressing yourself.

I voraciously read Twelve Stones - and enjoyed it so very much! She's an awesome, gifted writer, and I could really identify with her story - how our hopes and dreams, our failures, are engineered by God, and bring us closer to Him.
I just finished reading your Memoirs and was in awe the whole time! Your writing is excellent - so descriptive and captivating. ...your book has inspired me to more faith in my walk.
Sharron Johnston (Brookings, OR)
Considering how many lemons you had thrown at you through your early years, I was amazed throughout how resilient you were. ...You just carried me as a reader on and on - it was just like being there! The excitements, the hurts, the triumphs and the tragedies... So life-like. Actually, I guess you BLEW ME OVER! It just made a beautiful, beautiful story. I am glad you wrote and published such a beautifully written piece!

I am so happy that you ...are able to share this amazing book with others. A full and very rich life, though filled with grief and hardship at times. My admiration is deep.

I read your book and absolutely loved it! Your life story is so interesting, and you are an incredibly talented writer. The book has touched me deeply, as I know it has many. Your book in particular has made me aware that I need to invite, and allow, God into my life. I can't wait for the next book!
David had five stones to get Goliath, Joshua had twelve stones to show the saving power of God, and now you will know why and how you can use them to create miracles in your own life. Happy reading.

"Wherever your spiritual journey takes you, it is not complete until you read Twelve Stones, a most unorthodox journey to faith. Barbara Carole creates drama and immediacy in telling this very personal story about tough times, triumph and the discovery of new dimensions. It is the story of a truly unstoppable woman. I love the Twelve Stones message!"

I picked up the book thinking I'd start it in the morning, because it was late and I needed to get to bed -- then I just "scanned" the first paragraph, and before I knew it I was on page 60 and wanting more, even though I was exhausted. WHAT a good book this is! I am so jazzed to read such an outstanding writer.

Barbara Carole's gripping account, Twelve Stones, reads like a self-performed open-heart surgery. From American academia to the Parisian art world, from subsistence living on Santa Monica's Venice Beach to the high life in Monaco, and on up to the cut-throat echelons of corporate advertising, Barbara confronts daunting trials while raising her child alone.
For me, it resembles a candidly frank, modern version of Augustine's Confessions, in the feminine gender. Twelve Stones is one of those rare books that lingers in memory until it has been thoroughly pondered.
Author of Peace Child, Lords of the Earth and Eternity in their Hearts and former missionary to head-hunting, stone-age cannibals in Dutch New Guinea.
Barbara's real life experiences are colorful enough to make mere fiction boring by comparison. [Readers]… not only enjoy her lovely style and poetic narrative, but also get a glimpse of God through her eyes, and the lengths He will go to retrieve one of His own.

Wow! I feel I have been on an extraordinary journey with Barbara! Fascinating, I could hardly wait to turn the next page, where often I discovered an entirely contrasting, different scene.
Not just interesting and intriguing, the story is fast, easy reading and extremely well written. In fact, I could hardly put it down, and stayed up late at night reading it. Barbara's experiences, and especially her multiple relationships, really set the stage for God's miracles working in her life and grips one's attention. The subject of 'relationship' in various contexts stands out as a major theme of the book. It's hard for me to imagine anyone not wanting to know the end of the story.

Barbara's book is great reading. I don't subscribe to her particular view of God and faith, but her ability to hold the reader's attention makes it fast moving and difficult to put down. At least, that was the case with this reader.

I loved this book. It was wonderful to read in a natural quiet place. In the beginning, I highlighted things I really liked, but gave up on that because there was too much of it. I also loved the way the book was formed around the stones of Joshua. It is very resonant with both Judaism and Christianity. I congratulate Barbara Carole on a fabulous book.
